Last Tuesday we set out for one of our favorite parks...Palisades.
We had a "snack" picnic, then had peppermint sticks for dessert.

Check out the methods of consuming a peppermint stick:
Krystin bites and crunches; Kaylin licks it; Ethan twirls it in his mouth. Each one savors this tasty treat.

Drinking at the fountain

On her first attempt she sprayed her whole face, but that did not deter her.

On the beach. Such a sweet picture of Mom and Krystin, the cuddlebug

Kaylin and Grandpa looking for rocks suitable for skipping.

But they're difficult to find since last year's flood washed so much silt onto the beach.

Grandpa found one rock...so everyone is gathering to witness his expertise at skipping rocks.
He did not disappoint us.

Treasure hunting?

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Our time at the park went way too fast.

Coming up from the beach to head out on the trail

You can smell the woody fragrance as soon as you enter the trail.

Up, up, up to the top

Kaylin blazed the trail for all of us

To the right are favored cliffs for climbers

Marching, marching.....

Inside a "cave" near the spillway

Family photo in front of the spillway. It was a perfect day...not hot nor humid.

Remember where we were....

At the spillway. Kevin (Grandpa) explaining how the flood covered everything last year.

Grandpa brought each one safely to the other side. (Well, except for Britt and Dan. They managed to arrive without Kevin's help.)

Britt on the steps descending to the spillway

Had to get a photo of the grandkids with Gma and Gpa (but Krystin wanted to hug Grandpa. She's such a hugger, and it's great!)

Ok, there's Krystin's face

Miss personality

Britt has many fond memories on this trail....spent lots of time here as a family when the kids were growing up. Her own kids really enjoyed the adventure in the park.
