Kevin's mom and dad are in the area this summer. It's been a treat to have them around. They have been working hard ever since they arrived about a month ago, helping Kevin's sister and her husband remodel their kitchen/dining area. And his dad (with his expert knowledge of electricity) helped Kevin all of Friday on our bathroom remodel.

Ray and Marlene

Kevin and parents relaxing. The men are probably watching golf and Marlene is doing needlework on a blanket that will be gifted.

What's with all the healthy stuff Penni's eating these days? And preparing for everyone else to consume who sits at her table?

Relaxing with Bocce Ball in the backyard...and the side....and the front.

Ray must have won this round.

We four sat inside our netted gazeebo (bug-free!!) and played dominos (Mexican Train).

Only one domino left...
Our summer project...
remodeling the upstairs bath...Kevin gutted it this past week.

The old insulation...pretty brittle and very dirty.

Wanted to put in a new tub, but this cast iron one was put in so snugly, then was framed in. So, we have to keep it. But everything else goes. Picking out new tile that we both agreed upon was no easy task. We decided we would have a difficult time building a house together as we both have strong opinions on colors, textures, etc.

"What have I gotten myself into??!! This is supposed to be my vacation!"
The drywall was 2 layers thick.

He'll be making at least one trip to the city dump! He's been working so hard.

Even the door frame had to be removed so the new drywall can be hung. We find that a job is never as easy as one starts out hoping. Hope sometimes fades, weariness can set in, and perseverance has to take over. Thanks, Kevin for all your hard work on this 2nd big (alas, not last) project in our house.
