A new love for Dale!

Dale has discovered a new love...riding on the open road. He and Lori, my sister drove up today with their bikes and we all went riding. Here's Dale with his new Giant. Kevin with his Trek.

And here's Lori and Penni. They are confident women...why else would anyone show off their bikes sporting a kick-stand?

Dale and Lori on the trail.

I've never ridden beside Kevin when he's on his Trek. This was a new experience for me.

Here they come.....

....there they go. Hey! Wait for me!
On the way down to Mom's and Maynard's we enjoy the drive through Amish country.

The Belgium horses are so muscular. I'm sure they work hard in the fields.

Cheese curds anyone? Mmmmm....warm, salty, squeaky. Now $4.50 per pound.
Going on a moonlight night paddle...
Kevin called his sister, Suzy to invite her and her husband, Gene to go with us on the lake for a night paddle. So we all packed a picnic supper and headed for the lake.

Kevin and Suzy

We enjoyed the full moon as it rose above the treetops

The water was calm and so we all just sat in our kayaks and took in the glorious, peaceful evening.

Well, no successful long arm shots, but this is all I have to post. Doesn't look posed, does it?

Gene and Suzy watching the sunset

Hey, Gene! Look this way.

Houses lit up along the shore

Can you see why this is just about my favorite thing to do? God has not left Himself without witness.
Pigman triathlon.....

Last Sunday was the Pigman with 600 racers.

This is my friend, Belinda. She and her teammates took 2nd place in women's teams.

Kevin was a volunteer and was kept busy at the main intersection. I was his support...packed lunch and was a spectator. We had great "seats". The sheriff was kept busy with all the traffic that came through. There are some really inept drivers on the road, but he did a great job directing traffic.
Finally....she's all grown up!

Yep...I've joined the world of adults...I now enjoy a cup of (weak) black flavored coffee in the morning with something sweet. This is my breakfast (no, I did not eat all 3 blueberry muffins) yesterday morning: muskmelon, fresh muffins, and vanilla nut coffee. I may even have Kevin take a picture of me actually sipping my cafe and post it in a future blog. We still continue our tradition of taking turns serving each other breakfast in bed on Saturday mornings. The server also does the breakfast dishes. So when it's my turn to serve, I make sure that dishes are done Friday night. We have no dishwasher...yet. We guard our Saturday morning tradition...it's a wonderful thing in a marriage to serve...and to be served.
Farmer's Market in Green Square, Saturday mornings.

It was my first time to go to the Farmer's Market in Green Square. Was great fun...there not only was fresh produce, but also artist booths set up. The city is encouraging its citizens to support local economy, especially since the flood.

We bought tomatoes from this vendor. The daughter was dad's cashier.

Trey and Kari...recognize the bags Kevin is toting? We still use the bags you gave us when we visited you in France. I know it looks like Kevin dug through the trash and found something worth salvaging, but he's just passing by. This is downtown CR a week ago.

Breaking records!

Kevin and I went for a ride on the trail last Sunday. We rode 16 miles! Well, it's no record for Kevin, but for me it is. My previous record was 14 miles (Kevin thinks maybe it was 10). Either way...I'm rather pleased.

I need to find a jersey...this is one of Kevin's old ones. But this is me in my kit, such as it is.

This was my view for much of the ride.

A bean field along the trail. Made me feel so much at home because I've been around farms most of my life. The white clouds against the blue sky cast massive shadows across the field.

I believe the man is happiest when he's peddling.

Riding off into the sun.
Let there be light....
Kevin and I went shopping for a new front porch light because what we had was so old and the brass finish was rusty. We couldn't find one that we really liked that would look good on the front of our house, soooo, Kevin, being the creative and budget-minded man that he is, decided he would just sand off the rusty spots and repaint our 1960s light. Check it out.

Spraying the primer on every little piece of the dismantled light fixture.

The little dots are actually threaded caps for the bolts. He painted everything.

And the finished product now proudly sheds new light on our house. Doesn't it look like new? I'm rather pleased. Great job, Kevin!

FOR FAMILY ONLY :o)

This posting consists of extended family gathered at Aunt Oletha's funeral. Since we seldom see each other due to living so far apart, I wanted to post these pictures for the benefit of family only...so just know this is like a home movie...ok now, try to forget these were taken at a funeral...

Verdella and her kids...well, ok...we were waiting for Joyce to come, so Tommy thought he'd step in for her. Thanks, Tom. Glad you're not camera shy.

Ok, here we go. Tommy stepped aside and now it's Aunt Verdella, Don, Joyce, David.

Is this one better?

At lunch the cousins sat at one table. Tommy, Joyce, David.

WARNING: This is not a classic video, but...

this is for the sake of family only...enjoy and have a laugh remembering our past gatherings. Thought that those of you who were unable to come, would enjoy hearing some of the voices.
