I really wanted to post some photos of an absolutely colorful fall day for my children who cannot be here for this. So, here you go, Kids...a piece of home. Enjoy...

I climbed to the top of the rocky hill where I could get a panoramic autumn view. Suzy and Gene preferred to explore below.

This is a swing Kevin and I like to sit in and just take in the view of some of what God has created
I found this "old turtle" at the base of a large maple. You can even make out his right eye. He looks so sad and tired, don't you think? (Hey, at least it's not fungus!)
This is worth the climb
We were wishing we had our kayaks with us
...on the trail. It was great...the leaves, acorns, twigs would crunch under our feet as we walked along...and the woody smell was so refreshing.

Mom, thanks for the post. It's really pretty out here right now as well. I found it amusing that the 'taste of home' comment was followed by several pics of Gene and Suzy. Not exactly what I remember when I think of autumn in Iowa...well maybe coach at football practice.

Absolutely beautiful! Though I don't miss the winters--at all!--Autumn in Iowa is something special.

It truly is so awesome (and I mean that word in its true sense) to walk among those colored trees when the early morning or late evening sun is shining and casting long shadows. Hey Deb...aren't shadows your thing? Thanks for your comment!
Love the fall photos! I have really enjoyed fall here in Budapest and other places in Europe like never before. I think it is because we don't have to rake the leaves ourselves anymore!!!
